What's about?

As part of Swiss Money Week 2026, the exchange operator SIX, the Swiss Finance Museum, and the Swiss National Bank’s education program iconomix are launching a stock market game for vocational and upper secondary schools.

Over a period of six months, students from vocational and upper secondary schools will develop investment strategies on the VirtualAlpha platform. They create virtual portfolios, track market prices, and reflect on their decisions. In this way, they experience in a real-world context how financial markets function and the benefits of diversified and sustainable investing. A jury composed of representatives from SIX and the Swiss National Bank, along with other experts from the fields of education and finance, will evaluate the teams.

Through the game, students learn how to approach financial investments in a risk-aware manner—an essential skill: while young people are allowed to invest in the stock market from the age of 18, they are often exposed to advertising for financial products much earlier. Promoting financial literacy in Switzerland is a shared goal of the organizations behind the stock market game.

Following a pilot phase in German-speaking Switzerland, the game is planned to be rolled out nationwide.

Swiss Money Week im Finanzmuseum

The week is organized by the OECD International Network on Financial Education. In Switzerland, the Swiss National Bank (SNB) acts as the national coordinator. The Swiss Finance Museum and SIX collaborate to support the initiative.

We engage children and young people with age-appropriate activities during the campaign week. The idea is that these activities are implemented in the classroom in the months leading up to Swiss Money Week, with the results then presented during the week itself.
